Jerry F. Shepherd

Jerry F. Shepherd, 83, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s Eternal care, Friday, October 8, 2021, at the York Hospital.

Born June 19, 1938, in Anderson, IN, he was the son of the late Ronald B.W. and Ruth M. (Nickerson) Shepherd.  He was the loving husband of the late Patricia M. (Shear) Shepherd with whom he shared sixty-two years of marriage until her passing on Friday, August 10, 2018.

Jerry was a 1956 graduate of Anderson High School, Anderson, IN. He was an active member of Arise! E.F.C. Church, Hanover, PA.

Jerry had a career in the jewelry business for over 50 years.  He began his career with Gordon Jewelers all over the country.  He was a trouble shooter for the company in Texas and Tennessee and then later as a regional manager in PA.  He opened and over saw 13 stores in Lancaster, Harrisburg, and York before leaving the company and opening his own store J.P. Jewelers which he ran with his late wife Patricia until their retirement in 2002.

Jerry was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Hanover.  He was a past president and chaired many committees.  He will be most remembered for starting the pecan sales fundraiser and chairing it for the club for many years.

Jerry loved spending time and sharing at the family cabin in Raystown Lake.  He looked forward to the times spent on the lake with his friends and especially his family.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Toye Elaine Moore and husband Matthew of Dover, PA; two grandchildren, Christi L. Mack and husband Kevin, and Abbi E. Fritz and husband David; and two great-grandchildren, Skylar L. Mack, and Conner P. Mack; and siblings, George Shepherd, Lois Killion, Gene Shepherd, and James Shepherd.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Bouse.    

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Jerry will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, October 15, 2021, at Arise! E.F.C. Church, 109 Flickinger Road, Hanover, PA, with Pastor Randy Strode officiating.  Burial will be 1:30 PM, Friday, October 15, 2021, in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.
