Jerry A. Gilbert

Jerry A. Gilbert, 66, of Hanover, PA entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, August 1, 2025, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital with his loving family and friends by his side.

Born December 10, 1958, in Hanover, PA, Jerry was the son of Betty L. (Warner) Gilbert and the late Earl R. Gilbert.  He was the loving husband of Shirley M. (Hempfing) Gilbert with whom he would have shared 45 years of marriage in November 2025.

Jerry was a 1976 graduate of South Western High School.  He was a pattern maker and shop foreman for 50 years and had just begun retirement from Castek in Chambersburg, PA.

Jerry was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Hanover, PA.  He enjoyed projects around the house, traveling, hunting, woodworking, playing his trumpet, telling jokes, and Penn State football.  His greatest joy was spending time with his Lord, family, friends, and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Shirley, Jerry is survived by his two daughters, Shelley E. Mathias (Sean) of Glenville and Ashley S. Lippy (Micah) of Hanover, his five grandchildren, Cassandra, Madelyn, Kensley, Kayley, and Clayton, and his brother, Daniel R. Gilbert (Cecilia) of Georgia. 

A service to celebrate and remember Jerry’s life  will be held 11 AM, Friday, August 8, 2025, at Calvary Bible Church, 603 Wilson Avenue, Hanover, PA, with Dr. James Ayers officiating.  The family will receive friends and share memories on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 6 to 8 PM, and Friday, August 8, 2025, from 10-11 AM, at the church.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Paul’s Dubs Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
