Jewel Elizabeth Amspacher, 96, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center.
Born October 15, 1925, in Holly Hill, SC, she was the daughter of the late Talmadge and Effie (Robinson) Sweatman. Jewel was the loving wife of the late Roy “Pete” J. Amspacher with whom she shared 48 years of marriage until his passing on November 14, 1999.
Jewel was a graduate of Eutawville High School and went onto Business School. She occasionally did some clerical work as well as raising her family.
Jewel was a member of Hanover Church of the Brethren, where she was active with the visitation committee for many years.
Jewel enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, playing golf, painting ceramics, shopping and being with her family.
Jewel is survived by her daughters, Karen Klunk and husband Bart of Hackettstown, NJ, Jill Kaufman of Greenwood, IN; three grandchildren, Michelle Kaufman, Matthew Klunk, and Christopher Klunk & wife Renee; two great grandchildren, Wyatt and Natalie Rue Klunk; and one sister, Gladys Layton of Charleston, SC. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Boggs; and two brothers, Elliott Sweatman and Harold O’Dell Sweatman.
A service to celebrate and remember Jewel’s life will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Hanover Church of the Brethren, 601 Wilson Avenue, Hanover, PA, with Revs. Dick and Gerry Godfrey officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA. The family will receive friends from 10 - 11 AM, Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the church.
