Johanna J. Berwager, 100, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at the Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center.
Born May 11, 1921, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Daisy (Feeser) Brodbeck. Johanna was the loving wife of the late Russell C. Berwager, Jr. who died August 24, 1996.
Johanna was a 1939 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA. She was one of the last living members of her class and served as the class historian for many years.
Johanna was a lifelong member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA, the Hanover YWCA, the Y Wives Club, and the local and national A.A.R.P
Johanna enjoyed sewing, embroidery, traveling and was a collector. She especially enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Johanna is survived by her children, Belinda J. Sabaka and her husband Steve, and Russell C. Berwager, III and his wife Melanie; a son-in-law, Robert “Cork” Troxell; 5 grandchildren, Tessa J. Hilyard and her husband, Douglas, James R. Troxell and wife Haley Lamson, Bethany J. Leckrone and husband Jason, S. Michael Sabaka and his companion Crystal Wherley and her daughter Bella, Andrew R. Sabaka and wife Heather; 7 great grandchildren, Ryan, Mallory, Caleb, Josiah, Eli, Leah, and Logan. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lucinda “Cindi” B. Troxell; two brothers, John and Ralph Brodbeck; and two sisters, Pauline Brady and Hilda Brodbeck.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Johann’s life will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, November 15, 2021, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 116 York Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Dr. Kim Blocher officiating. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 2- 4 PM, Sunday, November 14, 2021, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA as well as from 10 – 11 AM, Monday, November 15, 2021, at the church. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA.
