John Edward Epling, 82, of Hanover, PA entered God’s eternal care on March 24, 2023, at Hanover Hall.
Born September 13, 1940, in Tram, KY, John was the son of the late William Thomas and Nellie Mae (Jones) Epling. John was the loving husband to Lorraine M. (Darby) Epling with whom he shared almost 60 years of marriage, until her death on October 24, 2022.
John was a 1958 graduate of Betsy Lane High School in Stanville, KY. He was a veteran and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army as a K-9 Handler protecting Nike Missile sites in Gaithersburg where he met Lorraine and never considered going back to Kentucky.
John worked as a production manager at Weinschel Corp. electronics company and retired after 55 years of loyal service, where he made lifelong friends during this time.
John enjoyed watching sports, especially football, as well as vegetable gardening, cooking, grilling out, and spending time with his loving family.
John is survived by his children, Cynthia M. MacLean, and John Shreve (fiancé) of Thurmont, MD, Sandra L. Keating of Gaithersburg, MD, and John T. Epling of Hanover, PA; three grandchildren, Isabella M. Epling, Tyler A. Keating, and Kelcie M. Keating, and one great-granddaughter, Bailey Keating. John also leaves behind two sisters, Ruth, and Eva Mae, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his brother Paul Epling, and three sisters, Elsie, Goldie, and Gladys.
Following cremation, services will be private at the convenience of the family.
