John R. “Bob” Flickinger, Sr., 87, of York, PA, entered God's eternal care, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at WellSpan York Hospital, York, PA.
Born August 22, 1934, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Walter E. and Catherine M. (Smith) Flickinger. John was the loving husband of June G. (Johnson) Flickinger with whom he shared twenty-one years of marriage, and the late Dorothy R. (Keith) Flickinger who died in December 1989.
John was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church of Greater York, Dover, PA.
John was a veteran and served his country proudly in the United States Army.
John retired from York Building Products in August 1999, and from Alwine Brick Company in 1985. He was a Mason, and member of the Patmos Lodge #348, Hanover, PA, the Gettysburg Moose Lodge #1526, and the Republican Club of Hanover.
In addition to his loving wife June, John is survived by his children, Donna M. Reaver of Hanover, PA, John R. Flickinger, Jr. of York, PA, Keith B. Flickinger of Aston, PA, and Dorothy R. Wicke of Hanover, PA; two step children, Mark Lee and Gail Lee; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Earl Flickinger of York, PA, and Clyde Flickinger of Lebanon, PA; and a sister, Edna Dubs of Hampstead, MD. He was preceded in death by five brothers, James Flickinger, Allen Flickinger, George Flickinger, Norman Flickinger, Leroy Flickinger; and two sisters, Anna Mae Forney and Teresa Brady.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember John will be held will be held 10 AM, Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Lighthouse Baptist Church of Greater York, 5005 Carlisle Rd, Dover, PA, with Pastor Nathan Walsh officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6-8 PM, Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, and from 9:30 to 10 AM, Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
