Joyce B. Groft

Joyce B. Groft, 83, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care Tuesday, June 16, 2026.  Joyce was the loving wife of David A. Groft who passed on December 2, 2005.   

Born April 18, 1943, in Westminster, MD, she was the daughter of the late Vernon L. Bixler and Dorothy A. (Shafer) Bixler.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Delores (Bixler) Bowers and Phyllis E. (Bixler) Walker; brothers-in-law, Richard L. Bowers, Duane M. Hall, and William E. Walker, sisters-in-law, Naomi (Groft) Marchio and Ruth (Groft) Hall.

Joyce worshipped at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 127 York Street, Hanover, PA.

She graduated from South Western High School in 1961 and worked in the clerical field for various companies in the Hanover area.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling, boating and going to the beach and spending time with her family and friends.  Her greatest joys were her nieces, nephews and their families.

Joyce is survived by a brother, Wayne L. Bixler and wife Malessie of Arkansas; and brother-in-law, Steven R. Marchio of Hanover.  Joyce is also survived by her nieces and nephews and their families, Gary R. Bowers of Delaware; Brent Bowers of Florida, Karen F. (Marchio) Albright, Anthony E. Marchio, Kimberly L. (Bixler) Farner, Heather L. (Bixler) Hull all of Hanover, Kimberly A. (Hall) Krout of Spring Grove, and Jeffery M. Hall of Fayetteville, PA.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
