Judith Lee Sieg

Judith Lee (Bennett) Sieg passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023, after a tough fight with cancer. She was born November 21, 1947, to Francis and Monica Overbaugh Bennett. Judy graduated from Delone Catholic High School in 1965. Following high school, she pursued a nursing career at Our Lady of Lourdes School of Nursing in Camden, NJ. She graduated as an RN in 1968. In October of 1969 she married the love of her life, Jeffrey David Sieg. Together they enjoyed 54 years of marriage. Judy worked at Hanover General Hospital in the Coronary and Intensive Care units. Later she continued her nursing career with Dr. Adams Oral Surgery. Judy extended her love of nursing by doing ten medical-dental mission trips to Honduras. She told others the people she worked with on missions and those she cared for, were an extension of family.

When she was not nursing, she was still on the move. Judy enjoyed brisk walks and gardening. She took up dance classes and yoga with Silver Sneakers at Platinum Gym. She volunteered her time with PAL and Council of Churches and snuck in a little extra time to help with lunches at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School. When she did sit to relax, it was at The Siegcluded Lodge cabin.

While Judy loved nursing and volunteering, she insisted her most important role was being a wife, mother, and homemaker for Jeff and their three children Mike, Josh, and Heather. She is survived by her husband Jeff, their children and six grandkids who will so fondly miss their “Mumzy”. Michael and Becky Sieg, Joshua and Andrea Sieg, Heather and David Jones and grandchildren, Madison and J.D., Riley and Carys, and Henry and Samantha. Her brother Timothy and his wife Anne Bennett, her brothers, and sisters-in-law of the Sieg family, numerous nieces and nephews, and a multitude of cousins. Judy was preceded in death by her parents Francis and Monica and her sister Yvonne Baumgardner Henry.

A public Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Thursday, December 7, 2023, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church,  220 Third Street, Hanover, PA.  The family will receive friends and celebrate Judith’s life immediately following the Mass in the parish gymnasium.
