Karen D. Lawrence, 73, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Friday, March 8, 2024, at the UMPC West Shore Hospital.
Born May 17, 1950, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Jean L. (Stery) King. Karen was the loving wife of Benjamin C. Lawrence with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.
Karen was a 1968 graduate of New Oxford High School. She worked as a cashier at Wal Mart for over ten years.
Karen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA, the Red Hat Society, and the MS Society. She enjoyed puzzles, camping, cooking, especially making Christmas cookies with her children, and was an avid reader.
In addition to her husband Ben, Karen is survived by her children, Melissa A. Wernick of Taneytown, MD, Amy L. Correal of Beckley WV, Jonathan P. Lawrence of Hanover, PA and Lori B. Coulson of Newville, PA, her grandchildren, Andrew Wernick, Benjamin Wernick, Emily Wernick, Blake Coulson, and Jase Coulson, and three brothers, Dwayne King, Brett King, and Kevin King.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Thursday, March 14, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5055 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA, with Msgr. James M. Lyons as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA. Visitations will be held from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA as well as from 10 – 11 AM, Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the church.
