Karen L. Martz, 75, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care Thursday, January 29, 2026, at UPMC Hanover Hospital, with her loving family by her side.
Born July 30, 1950, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Gerald I., Sr. and Betty J. (Strausbaugh) Sprenkle.
Karen was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hanover.
Karen was a 1968 graduate of Hanover High School. She was a homemaker while her children were growing up, and then worked as a custodian at the South Western School District for over 20 years.
Karen was an avid bowler. She enjoyed watching her grandkids and their endeavors, vacationing in Ocean City, family gatherings and reunions, watching her game shows, and loved being with people.
Karen is survived by four children, James A. Martz, Jr. and wife Grace of Spring Grove, PA, Rick A. Martz and wife Karen of Hanover, PA, Tammy S. Redding and husband Craig of Hanover, PA, and Julie A. Wright of Hanover, PA; ten grandchildren, Meaghan Martz, Tyler Martz, Jordan Martz, Hunter Martz, Avery Barnes, Courtney Young, Ashley Smiley, Kiersten Amspacher, Scott Wright, Jr., and Haley Wright; thirteen great-grandchildren, Micah, Isla, Rowan, Gunnar, Lincoln, Cade, Weston, Jaxon, Waylon, Harlen, Hazel, Paisley, and Kinley; a sister, Vickie Storm of Hanover, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by stillborn twin daughters; two brothers, Gerald I. “Jerry” Sprenkle, Jr., and Randy Sprenkle; a special aunt, Nancy A. Fink; and her former husband and friend, James A. Martz, Sr.
Funeral services to celebrate and remember Karen will be held at 12PM, Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Covenant Life Church, 117 Ruth Avenue, Hanover, PA, with Pastor Kenneth Martz Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 11AM-12PM, Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the church.
