Larry E. Bankert, 86, of Hanover, PA, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Pleasant Acres Nursing Center, York, PA.
Born October 26, 1938, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Theodore R. and Lydia E. (Stonesifer) Bankert. Larry was the loving husband of the late Betty L. (Renoll) Bankert with whom he shared 55 years of marriage until her passing on February 17, 2012.
Larry enjoyed hunting, bird watching, playing bingo, was an animal lover and volunteered with the Fire Police.
He was proceeded in death by his wife Betty Bankert of 55 years, his brothers David Bankert and Dean Bankert, a sister Sally Klunk, his son Gary Bankert Sr, his grandson Scott Bankert, and 2 great grandchildren Dylan Colbert and Jamie Hargrave.
Larry is survived by his sons, Barry Bankert (Barb), Terry Bankert, Ted Bankert (Wendy), and Larry Bankert Jr., a daughter Donna McCauley, his sisters Joyce Wheeler (Tom), Shirley Ritchey (Jack), Nadine Eller (Marvin), Dolores Beard(John), and Jean Storm (Earl). His grandchildren Michelle Bankert, Rachel Barnhart (Travis), Thomas Krichten Jr. (Jen), James Bankert, Gary Bankert Jr., Nick Bankert (Laura), Karla Bankert (Alan), Tanisha Bankert (Alan), Nicole Bankert (Jake), Ryan Bankert, Zach Bankert, Brooke Bankert, Sarah McCauley (Steve), Stella Hargrave (Jamie), Phillip McCauley, Jr., (Kelly), 28 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Larry’s life will be held 11 AM, Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Dubs Church Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10 -11 AM, Friday, September 5, 2025, at the funeral home.
