Larry I. Bankert, 85, of New Oxford, PA, entered God’s eternal care Friday, August 22, 2025, at The Brethren Home with his loving family by his side.
Born February 7, 1940, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Henry W. and Florence V. (Stegner) Bankert. Larry was the loving husband of Beverly A. (Welk) Bankert, with whom he shared 66 years of marriage.
Larry was a 1958 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA. He retired from Utz Quality Foods in 2000, where he was a route salesman for 32 years.
Larry played the guitar and was a member of several local bands. He enjoyed going for bike rides, and working out frequently at the YMCA. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his loving wife, Beverly, Larry is survived by his children, Robert Bankert and wife Lisa of Littlestown, PA, Jeffrey Bankert and wife Debra of Mt. Airy, MD, Richard Bankert and wife Karen of Salinas, CA, Jeanne Rafferty and husband Donald of Hanover, PA, and Larry Bankert, Jr. and wife Cara of Dillsburg, PA; 11 grandchildren, Nicole, Jennifer, Brian, Allison, Brandon, Nathan, Kaia, Garrett, Colton, Layla, and Brooks; three great-grandchildren, Parker, Logan, and Lilian ~ and one more on the way; and a brother, Leonard Bankert and wife Nancy of New Oxford, PA.
Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate and remember Larry will be held 4:00PM, Sunday, October 19, 2025, at the Nicarry Chapel at the Brethren Home, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA, with the Rev. Faye Snyder officiating. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 3:30PM-4:00PM, Sunday, October 19, 2025 at the Nicarry Chapel. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to the Good Samaritan Fund at Cross Keys Village/The Brethren Home, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350.
