Lena Mae Dulling Obituary

Lena Mae Dulling, 99, of Sykesville, MD, and formerly of Hanover, PA, entered God’s Eternal Care Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at home with her loving family by her side.

Born February 3, 1926, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lester M. and Bertha Mae (Hoke) Jacobs.  Lena Mae was the loving wife of the late William O. Dulling, with whom She shared 65 years of marriage until his passing on March 28, 2013.

Lena Mae was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA, where she was a former member of the choir and a Steven’s Minister as well as being an active participant in the church’s many social and outreach events.

Lena Mae was a member of the YWCA Garden Club and the Hanover Exchange Club.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, music, the Arts, vacations at the beach, traveling, and entertaining friends and family.  She is best remembered for her joyful and generous spirit.  Always smiling, always pleasant – a truly light and happy soul. 

Lena Mae is survived by a son, James O. Dulling and his wife Sherry of Sykesville, MD; her daughter, Nancy P. Keen of Frederick, MD; six grandchildren (Jessica Martinez, Suzanne Pagel, Adam Dulling, Jacob Dulling, Lindsey Sowers, and Madison Crouthamel); and six great-grandchildren (Cooper Dulling, Cody Dulling, Calvin Pagel, Elliott Pagel, Vernon Crouthamel, and Avery Sowers).   She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tracy A. Bollinger.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 6, 2025, at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 West Chestnut Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Faye Snyder officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held at the church starting at 10:00 AM with the service immediately following at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  Immediately following the service, the family will host a fellowship luncheon to celebrate her life and honor her memories. 

The family would like to acknowledge Carol Ramsay, a very special person to Lena Mae and to our family as a whole.  She was not only Lena Mae's caregiver for twelve years but a very important friend and extended part of the family.  She provided exceptional loving care during her time with us.  We are so thankful for her and her giving spirit.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Lena Mae’s memory to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 West Chestnut Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
