Leona C. Dubs

Leona C. Dubs, 94, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care Saturday, June 13, 2026, at WellSpan York Hospital, with her daughters by her side.

Leona was born at home in Pleasant Hill, PA, on July 31, 1931, and was the second daughter of the late William C. J. and Relda A. (Nace) Wintrode. She was the loving wife of the late Earl W. Dubs, with whom she shared over 64 years of marriage.

Leona spent most of her working years in the auto parts business starting with her dad at Wintrode’s Auto Supply in Hanover.  She didn’t find it to be just a job; she lived and breathed it.  After her dad’s business was sold, Leona purchased Loi-Lene’s which was a children’s clothing store in Hanover.  Having tried a different line of work for several years, she returned to her passion and took her many years of experience and talent to other local auto parts businesses.  In her later years, she worked at other small companies and retired from Framatome Connectors International.

Leona was a member of St. David's United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA, for over 80 years and served on the church’s History & Library Committee.  She volunteered with several community services such as the Provide-A-Lunch program and church festivals where she used her love of cooking and baking.  She loved making pies and was known locally as “The Pie Lady”.

Leona is survived by her daughters, Lisa C. Montgomery and husband David of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Kimberly J. Dubs of Hanover, PA; and two grandchildren, Brett A. Montgomery and his fiancée Kathryn Hosey, and Kayla N. Montgomery; and two great-grandsons.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Dolores E. Lefever of Hanover, PA.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Leona will be held 11:00AM, Thursday, June 18, 2026, at St. David's United Church of Christ, 142 Hobart Road, Hanover, PA with her pastor, the Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, as well as from 10:00-11:00AM, Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the church. Burial will be in St. David's Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
