Leslie V. Savino, 102, of Hanover, PA, entered into God's eternal care, Monday, May 26, 2025, at the Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center.
Born August 27, 1922, in Northampton, MA, he was the son of the late John B. and Victoria (Giacomina) Savino. Les was the loving husband of the late Barbara A. (Burns) with whom he shared 66 years of marriage until her passing on February 23, 2010.
Les was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA, the Hanover Historical Society, the local and national A.A.R.P, the Hanover YMCA where he worked out regularly until he was 100, the Hanover ELKS Lodge 763, and the American Legion, Post 14.
Les was a 1939 graduate of St. Michael’s High School, and 1948 graduate of the University of Massachusetts.
Les was a veteran of The United States Army, having served his country proudly as a 2-engine flight Instructor and a B-17 pilot during World War II.
Les was a former vice president of Manufacturing at Hanover Foods for 25 years and later worked as a food consultant for 25 years. His professional memberships include the Institute of Food Technology, PA Food Processors Association, and the PA Canners Association where he was a past president.
Les is survived by four children, Carolyn Savino of Roseville, CA, Robert L. Savino and wife Dina of Carroll Valley, PA, Mary E. Savino of Hanover, PA, and Paul M. Savino and wife Regina of Hanover, PA, 4 grandchildren, two great granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ralph Savino, Stephen V. Savino, John Savino, Mary Bilza, Marguerite Sweeney, and Rita Savino.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM, Saturday, May 31, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5055 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA, with Father Michael Rothan as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA, with the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail providing Military Honors. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6 to 8 PM, Friday, May 30, 2025, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA.
