Levere J. Long, 87, of Gettysburg (Bonneauville), PA, entered God’s eternal care, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Gettysburg Hospital.
Born December 22, 1936, in Bonneauville, PA, he was the son of the late George H. & Marie C. (Keiser) Long.
Levere was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Bonneauville, PA. He was a member of the Catholic War Vets, and the Bonneauville Volunteer Fire Department.
Levere was a lifelong plasterer, working in the family business with his father at George Long Plastering. When his father retired, he formed a partnership with his brothers until his retirement in 2001.
Levere loved sports - he was a fan of the Redskins and Notre Dame football and enjoyed going to the games. He was a big fan of Delone sports, following and watching both the boys’ and the girls’ teams. Levere enjoyed making ceramic ornaments, especially Santa Claus’s to give out at the holidays, and loved music, and played the drums in a country western band.
Levere is survived by his siblings, Charlotte Folkenroth of Blue Ridge Summit, PA, Doris Hartzel of Arendtsville, PA, Phyllis Chrismer of Hanover, PA, Darlene A. Long of Bonneauville, PA, Mary Lee Noel of Fairfield, PA, and Joseph Long of New Oxford, PA. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Melvin Long, Bernard Long, Mark Long, and Burnell Long.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 12 East Hanover Street, Gettysburg (Bonneauville), PA, with Father Benny Jose as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church Cemetery, Bonneauville, PA. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 66 East Hanover Street, Gettysburg (Bonneauville), PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Levere’s memory may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 12 East Hanover Street, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
