Levi Wells Obituary

Levi Christian Wells was born January 13, 1998, in Hanover Pennsylvania. In first moments, I held my son alone in the hospital room, I prayed and asked God to use his life for his purpose, and I gave him back to God. I didn’t realize he would only allow me to keep him for 26 years. He was this little beautiful baby boy, with thick curly black hair and he had the prettiest skin complexion I had ever seen. He literally slept across my chest every night for the first year of his life. He was my Pooh Bear, he healed this mama’s heart in a time I never thought it could be healed, and now it will be forever broken.

This is going to be a long one, but please read to the end so you can know my boy and honor his life.

Levi’s brothers Samson Wells & David Laughman and sisters Charay Fritz & Sophia Wells accused him of being “the favorite”. The truth to that statement will forever be my secret. His sister Charay and her husband Trevor gave him his four beautiful nieces, Mckenzie AKA Kenzie, Charlotte AKA Charles, Gracie and Reese. He absolutely adored his nieces. He took them on spaghetti dates, 4-wheeler rides, bikes rides and always had the best candy. They all called him Uncle Bye, and he wore that title with pride. Levi is also survived by his sister Pricilla Knicely and her husband and children and was proceeded in death by his brother Joesph Wells.

His sister Sophia wanted to share “When I think of my favorite memory with Levi and I, I think of us as typical brother and sister. Always fighting and getting on each other’s nerves. From the time he tried to drown me in the swimming pool to me chasing him around the house with a pencil and stabbing him in the back. Our last time together we went to Codorus, I will hold close to my heart the conversations we had and spending quality time together. A loving and caring brother, son and friend he was. Until we see each other again”.

His brother David wanted to share, “I didn’t get to spend all that much time with my brother but I am grateful for the times we did have. From you skipping stones one end of Codorus to another or the bamboo forest you planned to build into the sweetest fire pit imaginable. You always knew your work should be done well and it was without question. I remember him staring at the same line in the ceiling for 30 minutes just to make sure it was perfect. Rest easy Beast, we will all miss you more than words could ever tell.

In 2002 the man that helped mold my son into the man he became, came into our lives. Wes Hickman didn’t know what he was getting into when he became Levi’s Dad. Growing up Levi loved working in the garage with “Mr. Wes”. They may not have had the same DNA but are father and son. Also 2002 Levi also gained a brother Eddie Hickman and sisters Alisa Hickman and Ashley Farman. Levi’s nickname for his nephew “Little” Eddie was “Little Turd” and he was titled Uncle Turd.

Levi is survived by his “Gee” Nettie Six. When he was little, he insisted that wherever his Gee sat, his seat needed to be directly beside her.  He would pick on her and call he Nettie and make her so mad, but he knew she could never stay mad at him, I believe it was that face! He loved his Gee so much and would do anything for her. She was always there for him, and he knew he could always count on her. Levi was also survived by his Grandfather Robert Six.

When Levi was little you could find him on his scooter, his scooter was attached to him. He loved to take his money and scooter to Turkey Hill, where he charmed his favorite cashier Jewels and always seemed to leave the store with much more than he could pay for because she would buy him what ever he wanted. I totally understand why, it was that face, it was irresistible. Levi would scooter along with his brother Samson while Samson rode his skateboard. Levi also had a scooter loving friend, Joey Hoffman. Joey and Levi were friends since kindergarten. Even so that my son spent his last weekend on this earth camping with his best friend Joey and his family. Levi went on their family camping trips so many times through the years and they loved my boy like family, and he loved them just the same. Through all the years no matter what Joey was his tried-and-true friend, and for that I will be eternally grateful.

I will never forget the time, Levi may have been 8 or 9, we went school shopping, and the total came out to more money than I had at the time. He looked at me and said its ok mom put back my backpack I will use my old one. Little did he know that Wes would take him the next day and let him pick out any backpack he wanted. His heart has always been the size of Texas.

I can’t talk about his friends or the things he loved without talking about Beach Harbor. Wes and Levi would go crabbing and Levi learned quickly how to master the art of pulling in those crab traps. Wes had Levi’s first crab he ever caught framed, and it still hangs on his bedroom wall. He loved being on the water and scaring me to death when he rode the jets skis. He and Wes built Levi’s golf cart from the ground up, he wanted it to look like an army jeep and that it did. Summers at Beach Harbor created friendships that continued outside the gates of Beach Harbor. He had so many great memories with Katie, Danielle, Nick, Big Justin and Little Justin. They thought we didn’t know about all that went on during those bonfires, but we did. I’m so glad he had you all and all those perfect memories.

Levi was an old soul. He enjoyed collecting coins & vintage memorabilia. He loved to listen to music from the seventies, southern rock, classic rock and much to my surprise old school rap, he carried his speaker everywhere and would always have music blaring.  You would always find him watching Pawn Stars or American Pickers. If given the choice he would pick eating food made at a food truck over any restaurant. He loved going to farmers markets and bringing home baked goods and homemade jams and jellies. Most of all he loved his moms cooking, my phone is full of recipes with the message “ you need to make this”! He was the deviled egg maker in the family, and they were always requested and never had any leftovers .He hated chocolate, but loved his gummy bears. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was taking hikes with friends or family, kayaking, fishing, and crabbing.

Levi was such a perfectionist, when he did something, he wanted it done right. When he was in high school, he found his love of creating things with his own hands, whether it was wood working or metal he took much pride in what he made. His welds were so good that he was recruited out of high school to work for Hawk Industries. There he then learned how to cut granite, and he perfected the skill so much that he became one of two of the fabricators. He personally cut and polished granite countertop that are in some of the major airports the US. When he left that job, he decided to go to work for himself. L.C.W. Property Services was born. He could do anything he was asked to do. He became a jack of all trades quickly. He especially loved creating barndoors falling back on his love of wood working. You know I didn’t realize until this exact moment how much we were alike in that way, just creating things with our own hands made us happy.

Levi had a special place in his heart for Veterans. He was at Lowes one day and he met an elderly Vietnam Veteran named Steve. They struck up a conversation, Levi gave him his business card and said call if you ever need any work done. Steve did call. Levi and Steve became friends very fast. Levi would call him and check on him, he would take him to Lowes when he needed, he would fix things around the house. I believe most of all he just enjoyed Levi’s company, and I know Levi enjoyed his company. Steve had given Levi some mementos from him military career and Levi had told me how he wanted to save them and display them. We spoke to Steve, and he said he called Levi his son and thought of him as such. Thank you, Steve, for loving my boy and sharing your memories with him. Because of his admiration for Steve and Veterans we ask that in lieu of flowers, that you donate to the PA Wounded Warriors Foundation.

If you would like to attend his service, please dress casual, Levi hated fancy. He was a band tee and jeans kind of guy; his favorite color was blue. So, wear blue or anything casual, that would make him happy. We will have visitation 9am-11am service to begin at 11am on Thursday, October 10, 20024 held at Kenworthy Funeral Home 269 Frederick St Hanover PA, 17344.  We then invite everyone to gather at the Hanover VFW 19 Mckinley Ave in the banquet hall for refreshments and a time to share memories. The immediate family will join after we lay him to rest.

I wanted to share the things he loved and the people he loved. Also, if God would give me this much grace, to make sure my boy knows HOW MUCH I LOVED HIM AND THAT I KNOW HOW MUCH HE LOVED ME, and I would give ANYTHING in this world to HUG YOU & HOLD YOU just one more time and tell you just how much I am so proud of you! My heart will never be complete until I hold you again Son. Love, Mom
