Louis Long

Louis C. Long, 89, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Friday, October 11, 2024, at the Hanover Hall Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center.

Born May 14, 1935, in Nittany, PA, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Sarah A. (Williams) Long. Louis was the loving husband of the late Betty K. (Vonada) Long with whom he shared 66 years of marriage until her passing on April 27, 2022.

Louis was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hanover, PA.

Louis was a truck driver for many years, retiring after driving for Hanover Foods, Hanover, HF Campbells , & Sons Millerstown, PA, L. & H Trucking, Hanover, PA. and K Hill Motorsports, Abbottstown PA.

Louis enjoyed listening to bluegrass music, reading western novels, doing word searches, camping, watching baseball, Penn State Football and western movies, and spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren.

Louis is survived by his sons, Jeffrey C. Long and wife Tatia Blackwell of Lock Haven, PA, Michael E. Long and wife Pamela of Hanover, PA, David C. Long and wife Marjorie Frisk of Spring Grove, PA, and Charles C. Long and wife Pamela of Hanover, PA; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one brother, Jay M. Long of Center Hall, PA.  He was preceded in death by four brothers, Wayne A. Long, Ray Long, Charles E. Long, and Bruce F. Long; and one sister, Mary Ann Mattis.

A service to celebrate and remember Louis will be held 6 PM, Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Alison Bowlan-Kurland officiating. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 3-6 PM, Monday, October 14, 2024, at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall, PA, with the Rev. Tom Jones officiating.
