Manoma D. Sterner

Manoma (Mona) D. Sterner,89, formerly of Hanover PA, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Born September 24, 1934 in Littlestown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Earl Baughman and Virginia (Mays) Bishop. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Merle K. Sterner, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage.

Mona attended Littlestown High School, Littlestown, PA. She retired from Black & Decker after 25 years of service.

Mona was a member of the St Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA.

Mona’s passions were volunteering with the Hanover Meals on Wheels program, which she did for 30 years, and her granddaughter, Elizabeth.

Mona is survived by two daughters, Jody Cruz of Phoenix, AZ and Jill Sterner of Rehoboth Beach, DE, four grandchildren, Elizabeth Cruz of Phoenix, AZ, Robert Cruz, Jr of Miami, FL, Alex Cruz, his wife Tracy and daughter Victoria of Austin, TX and Michael Cruz, his wife Karen, daughter Mya and son Michael, Jr of Tampa, FL. Her sister, Jackie Rudisill and her husband, Merle, also survive her. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Her sister, Jeanne Yingling, preceded her in death.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery, 310-338 Westminster Ave, Hanover, PA on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. with the Reverend Fay Snyder officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mona’s memory to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 30 West Chestnut St, Hanover, Pa 17731.
