Margaret “Margie” J. Morelock, age 90, of Hanover, PA passed away surrounded by the love of the family she cherished so deeply.
Born on November 30, 1935, in Lineboro, MD, she was the daughter of the late Walter H. and Viola R. (Brown) Shaffer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Kane Morelock; her daughter, Joyce M. Hoffman; her grandson, Eugene “CJ” Morelock; her parents; and her siblings, Hilda Chamberlain, Eva Bullock, Paul Shaffer, Lewis Shaffer, Leonard Shaffer, Russell Shaffer, and Cletus Shaffer.
She was a devoted mother to six children, Larry Morelock and wife Ann, Donna Jones and husband Mike, Michael “Mike” Morelock, Charlene “Peach” Fuhrman and husband Carl, Eugene “Gene” Morelock and wife Ronna.
She was also a loving grandmother to 18 grandchildren: Katie McMyne, Chad Killeen, Chris Umbarger, Amy Raup, Kevin Morelock, John Jones, Jason Jones, Josh Jones, Tyson Morelock, Toya Fissel, Brandon Kling, Colby Fuhrman, Kayla Reynolds, Jeremy Morelock, Christy Forbes, Brandy Mathias, and Stephanie Mathias; as well as her 32 beloved great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Family was the center of her life, and nothing brought her more happiness than having the people she loved gathered around her.
She had a natural gift for taking care of others and spent much of her life making sure those around her felt loved, cared for, and well fed. She especially enjoyed cooking her family’s favorite meals, and her home was always a place where family could come together. Family was the center of her life. She was happiest when her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren came to visit, and no matter the time or circumstance, she was always there for the people she loved.
In earlier years, she enjoyed being a stitcher at Hanover Shoe for 27 years. In her free time, she was a proud member of Flirts and Skirts Square Dance Club in Mechanicsburg, PA as well as the Hanover Pacers Square Dance Club in Hanover, PA.
Most recently, Margaret spent time in SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Utz Terrace, where she continued to enjoy life and make the most of each day. She loved playing bingo, going to dinner with the new friends she made there, taking walks outside, conversing with the care staff, and spending time with those around her. Most of all, she looked forward to visits from her family and loved ones.
Throughout her 90 years, Margaret gave so much of herself to others. She will be remembered for her kindness, sweet charm, generosity, strength, devotion to her family, and the unconditional love she gave so freely.
Her family will remember her not only for all she did for them, but for the love and comfort they always felt in her presence. Her legacy lives on through her six children, 18 grandchildren, her 32 great-grandchildren, and all those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
Margaret will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but the love she gave throughout her life will never be forgotten.
