Margaret "Peg/Peggy" Utz

Margaret “Peg/Peggy” (Smith) Utz, 79, passed away at her home on April 15, 2026.  She was married to Gary Utz for almost 50 years.

Born February 4, 1947, in Gettysburg, she was the daughter of Robert A. Smith and Anna (Hartlaub) Smith.

She was employed at the telephone company for 40 years, United Telephone Company of Pennsylvania. 

Peg is survived by her son, Tony Smith of McKnightstown and his wife Maxine.  She has two granddaughters, DeeDee and Greta.  She had one brother, Robert (Bobby) Smith, who passed away in June 2025, he is survived by his wife Marsha of Gettysburg.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

In her free time, she loved sending cards to her family and friends for birthdays and holidays.  She enjoyed reading, and doing crossword puzzles.  Once a month she would have lunch with her former co-workers from the telephone company.  But most of all, she loved spending time with her family.  She will be greatly missed by so many.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 4PM, Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating.  A visitation will be held from 3-4PM, Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the funeral home.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
