Marian Louise (McCullough) Noble, age 101, passed into God’s Eternal Kingdom, Monday, February 9th, at Homewood at Plum Creek where she resided for over twenty years. Marian was born on June 10, 1924, in Hanover, the oldest daughter of the late Mae (Wine) McCullough and Dr. J. Walter McCullough, VMD. She was predeceased by a sister, Nellie Romoser, and her beloved husband of 57 years, Charles. She is survived by her children C. Michael and his wife Barbara, Ruth L. Noble, and Pamela J. Garrett and her husband Philip, all of Hanover, PA.
Marian was a 1942 graduate of Eichelberger High School where she participated in many school activities. After graduating from high school, she attended Thompson’s Business Institute in York. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church where she served for many years on the altar guild and taught Vacation Bible School. She served the community as a volunteer for the Hanover Chapter of the American Red Cross and was a member of the board of directors of the Hanover YWCA. Marian was involved with her children’s activities as a member of the PTA, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a Brownie Troop Leader. She enjoyed national and international travel with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Hanover Country Club where she was a member of the club’s nine-hole group. She also enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends. Marian was an avid reader and enjoyed word games and puzzles as well as painting and doing crafts. Music played an important role in Marian’s life. She was an accomplished pianist and would spend many hours playing her favorite pieces. She had the privilege of playing a post concert piano duet with Duke Ellington when he performed in Hanover in the mid 1960’s.
The children would like to extend their deep appreciation and genuine thanks to the staff of the Homewood community for the compassionate care and kindness that was shown to Marian during her residency. Also, many thanks to the VNA Hospice team for the caring professional service they provided.
A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10-11AM, Monday, February 16, 2026, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA. A service to celebrate and remember Marian will be held 11AM, Monday, February 16, 2026, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kirk A. Griffin officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in New Oxford Cemetery.
