Marie E. Sneeringer

Marie E. Sneeringer, 78, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care on June 5, 2024, at home with her loving family by her side.

Born on January 13, 1946, in Conewago Township, Adams County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Naomi (Blouse) Hartlaub.  Marie was the loving wife of Eugene L. Sneeringer with whom she shared fifty-nine years of marriage.

Marie faithfully attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Hanover, PA. 

Marie was a 1963 graduate of Eichelberger Senior H.S.  She was a stay-at-home mom until her children were grown and then worked part time at Schultz’s Deli.  Later, Marie worked in the cafeteria at Delone Catholic High School for thirty-five years until her retirement in 2021. She proudly watched all her grandchildren as they attended and graduated from Delone Catholic H.S.

Marie volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and School, and at Delone Catholic High School.  She always assisted family, friends, and neighbors in need.  Marie was an avid walker and a member of Faith and Fitness.  She loved attending and supporting her children’s and grandchildren’s activities and events.

In addition to her loving husband Eugene, Marie is survived by her children, Sonny Sneeringer and wife Kathy of Gettysburg, PA, Christine Brilhart and husband Dirk of Littlestown, PA, Frank Sneeringer and wife Christine of New Oxford, PA, and Brian Sneeringer and wife Kelly of Gettysburg, PA; grandchildren, Laura Pokorny and husband Ben; Lindsay, Larissa, Leanne and Joshua Sneeringer; Kirsten Knauss and husband Eric; Elizabeth Brilhart and husband Mark Evich; and Isaac Brilhart; two great-grandchildren, Ezra and Elora; and siblings, Ruth Kopp, Ann Ryan and husband Payday, Dolly Rutters and husband Fred, and William Hartlaub and wife Marlene.  She was preceded in death by six siblings, Kas Lawyer, Linda Hartlaub, James Kessler, Paul Hartlaub, Jr., Bud Hartlaub, and Ralph Hartlaub.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover, PA, with Father Michael P. Reid, II as celebrant.  Burial will be in St. Vincent de Paul Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6:00-8:00PM, Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with a prayer service at 8 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Marie’s name to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
