Marlin Gene Altland, 83, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 27, 2025. Born in Hanover on October 5, 1942, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Ethel M. (Altland) Bunty.
Marlin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He married the love of his life, Diana May Altland, on April 24, 1965, and together they shared 60 wonderful years.
He worked diligently throughout his life, at Trimen Industries, RH Sheppard Foundry and Sears Automotive Department. His strong work ethic was matched by his dedication to family and community.
Marlin was the proud father of Sandra A. (Altland) Deamer and her husband Joseph of Hanover, Michael G. Altland and his wife Jill of Hanover, and Robin R. (Altland) Ray of Spring Grove. He was the brother of Richard Bunty and the late Ronald Bunty.
His legacy continues through his eight grandchildren—Brandon Deamer, Brooke Mai, Michaela Altland, Cassidy Altland, Chloe Altland, Jace Altland, Lindsey Ray, and Kennedy Ray—and six great-grandchildren: Dawson, Decker, Charlee, Rhett, Emerson, and Saylor.
A lifelong fan of the Baltimore Colts and Ravens, Marlin also cherished the music of Elvis Presley. He gave back to his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Hanover Eagles, and was a lifetime member of the McSherrystown Home Association as well as a proud Son of the American Legion Post 14.
Marlin will be remembered for his devotion to family, his love of football and music, and his commitment to service. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Marlin’s life will be held 11AM, Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Father Michael A. Reid, III officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A visitation will be held from 10- 11 AM, Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the funeral home.
