Marlyn Levi Thoman, 89, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Homewood of Plum Creek Nursing Home.
Born December 7, 1931 in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Levi S. and Alice (Messersmith) Thoman. Marlyn was the loving husband of Helen M. (Messinger) Thoman who died August 21, 1996 and with whom he shared 41 years of marriage.
Marlyn was a life-long member and usher at the former Lohr’s Memorial Methodist Church in Hanover, PA. He retired in 1991 from New Way Packaging with over 25 years as a machine assembler. Prior to that, he worked at the R. H. Sheppard Foundry for 15 years.
Marlyn loved spending time with his family, his extended family, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed reading his bible, going to auctions, and music of all kinds as well as different instruments.
Marlyn is survived by two children, Wanda G. Thoman of Hanover, PA, and Wade S. Thoman and wife Kelly of Hanover, PA; five grandchildren, Jennifer Brown Dennis, Brittany Brown, Meghan Brown, Anthyn Brown, and Abigail Sentz; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Brown-Santos, and Hailey Dennis; and two sisters, Arlene V. Miller of Littlestown, PA, and Esther M. Miller of Manchester, MD. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy A. Thoman-Brown; and his siblings, Treva M. Mummert, Wilmer L. Thoman, Frances M. Krug, Mary L. Hetrick, Aliene V. McMaster, Rosella M. Plunkert, Ernest W. Thoman, and Janet E. Thoman.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Marlyn will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the funeral home. Due to COVID-19 regulations, masks must be worn, and social distancing observed.
