Born in Milton, MA, Mary was the daughter of Lillian M. (Craig) and Stanley L. Leavitt.  She was the wife of Robert M. Rae, who died July 11, 1995. She passed away peacefully on June 10, 2022.

 

She was a graduate of Needham (MA) High School and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Smith College in Northampton, MA. She also received a Masters degree from Western Maryland College. She taught in the Milton, MA School District and was a Reading Specialist for the Conewago Valley School District until her retirement in 1993.

 

Mary was a former Gray Lady at the Hanover Hospital and, after her retirement, a volunteer at the school where she previously taught. She loved music and studied the piano for many years. She was a Life Member of the Hanover Country Club, winning the Ladies Club Championship four consecutive years.

 

She is survived by her two sons, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) David L. Rae and his wife Bonnie, of Aberdeen, MD, and Craig S. Rae and his wife Sherry, of Salisbury, NC; grandson Chris and his wife Sara, granddaughters Shannon and her husband Jimmy Vo, and Shelley and her husband Charles Sloop; and four great grandchildren.

 

She was also preceded in death by Divot (a Spaniel/Terrier mix), Putter (a Dalmatian), Strudel (a German Shepherd), and Banjo (a Pit Bull Terrier).
