Mary E. Barrick Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Barrick, 98, of Hanover, PA, was called home to be with her Savior on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and servant of her faith and community, Mary lived a life marked by compassion, generosity, and unwavering love.

Born to Keziah and Paul Myers, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband Chester Barrick, her sister Pat Coulson, and her parents. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her 11 children: Anita (Bill) Reese, Paulette (Bob) Cape, Steve (Chrissie) Barrick, Marilee (William) Barger, Denise (Rodney) Markle, Ron (Karen) Barrick, Shell (Jim) Bethas, Brian (Tao Chen) Barrick, Jen (Nick) Gentile, Mary (John Rash) Barrick, and Lynne (Cory) Morgan. Her family also includes 25 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

Mary graduated from Delone Catholic High School in 1945 and went on to attend St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Baltimore, MD. A lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hanover, she lived her faith through service and fellowship.

Her dedication to others was evident in her involvement with numerous organizations, including the Council of Catholic Women, Hanover Hospital Auxiliary, Saint Frances Oblates, Council of Churches (Meals on Wheels), and the Red Cross. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, volunteered with the Red Cross Blood Mobile and Hanover Clothing Bank, and helped organize the St. Joseph Christmas and Easter Bazaars. As a Girl Scout Leader, she was honored with the St. Anne’s Award, and she proudly served as President of the Hanover Chapter of the Lioness Club. She also taught the Marion Medal Award and was an active member of Grandview Seniors.

Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and crafting. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew her.
