Mary R. Talerico Hymes

Mary R. Talerico Hymes, 81, of New Oxford went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at UPMC Hanover Hospital with family by her side.

Born with a heart devoted to caring for others, Mary spent many years working in the Alzheimer's unit at Homewood at Plum Creek. She loved the residents and her compassion, patience, kindness and strength touched many.

Mary never fully understood, and certainly never gave herself credit, for the strength, resilience and kindness she taught her family, lessons they will carry with them every day. She is survived by five sons, James (Joy), Larry (Christina), Mark, Daniel, Tony (Beth), and one daughter, Sherry (John). Her grandchildren, Edward, Katie, Zachary, Michael, Nicholas, Cassandra, Nicholas, Charlotte-Grace, Destiny, Paisley and Ensley and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two daughters, Christine and Andrea.

There will be no public viewing. Burial and celebration of life will be at the privacy of the family.
