Maureen C. Johnson

Maureen (Canney) Johnson, 88, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Thursday, June 3, 2021, at UPMC Hanover Hospital with her loving family by her side. 

Born December 18, 1932, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Valentine and Honora (Canney) O’Brien.  Maureen was the loving wife of Arthur J. Johnson, Sr., who died November 7, 2016, and with whom she shared sixty-three years of marriage.  

Maureen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA. 

Maureen graduated from Springfield High School, Montgomery County, PA.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, playing golf, and especially her time spent with family.

Maureen is survived by five children, Marcella J. Kammerer and husband Alfred of Gettysburg, PA, Lawrence A. Johnson and wife Martha of DeBary, FL, Arthur J. Johnson, Jr of Hanover, PA, Michael F. Johnson and wife Judith of Hanover, PA, and Maureen Johnson of Virginia, eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA, with Monsignor James M. Lyons as celebrant.  A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00AM, Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at the church.  Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover, PA.                  

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Maureen’s memory to the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
