Michael J. Crawford

Michael J. Crawford, 63, of New Providence, NJ, left this life on June 3, 2021 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, New Jersey, after a long- fought illness.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Paul Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Hts., NJ on Monday, June 7th, from 12-2 PM followed by the funeral service to begin in the funeral home at 2 PM.  Relatives and friends are also invited to attend the graveside gathering at Rest Haven Cemetery, 310-338 Westminster Rd., Hanover, PA on Tuesday, June 8th, at 2 PM.

Born in Elmhurst, NY to Frances Jean (nee Shumaker) and Robert Crawford, Michael had resided in Sunnyside, NY for many years before moving to New Providence in 2017.

Michael had graduated from Baruch College in New York City with a bachelor’s degree in business and finance.  He began his 47-year career in the banking industry at the age of 16, when he was employed as a courier for Irving Trust.  He worked his way through many promotions and was currently serving as Vice-President at BNY Mellon in New York City. 

Michael was a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church in New Providence, NJ.  He was a huge Jets fan and followed the Rolling Stones concert tours for many years. He loved being with family and friends and loved to cook. His memory will forever be cherished and kept alive by his loving family and the many friends and colleagues who will always remember his wonderful wit, generosity, and warm and caring nature.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Bridy Crawford (nee Fuhrman) and his cherished children, Irene and Finn Crawford. He is the dear brother of Tom Crawford and wife Ginny of Salisbury, MD; devoted son-in-law of Fran and Jim Fuhrman of Spring Grove, PA; cherished uncle of Brian Crawford and Alanna (Alex) Popa; brother-in-law of Traci (Chris) Burke of St. Petersburg, FL and Shaun Fuhrman of Sterling City, TX. Michael is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.  He was pre-deceased by his parents Robert and Frances Crawford and his brother Mark Crawford.
