Heaven gained a sassy, spirited woman who was a pioneer of her time on Thursday, October 31st, 2024, at her home in Hanover, Pennsylvania, surrounded by family. She was the wife of Clyde E. Mullins who passed away November 28th, 2003.
Born Myrtle Elaine Cooper on October 12th, 1933, in Gardiner, NY, to the late Mary Etta (Upright) & Irwin Cooper. Elaine was raised in Ellenville, NY, where her parents owned a butcher market.
Elaine & Clyde owned and operated a gas station, towing business, and junk yard in Baltimore, Maryland and Casselberry, Florida. Elaine was ahead of her time as she lobbied for the Maryland Gasoline Retailers Association in Washington, D.C. in the 70’s with her youngest on her hip. Nothing stopped Elaine in this male dominated industry.
During the summers of the 70’s the dynamic duo, Elaine and Glenda, were jaunting off to Europe, where mischief and experiences were had. So many friendships were cultivated during these trips. Elaine craved learning about other cultures and seeing the world.
After running two successful businesses, Elaine attended Catonsville Community College, where she earned her GNA license and worked at Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster, MD for several years. For the remainder of her work years, she called the Carrolton Bank of Baltimore her work home, where she handled checking, money markets and savings accounts.
Elaine is survived by two children: Glenda Mullins of Shadow Hills, California and Dawn Hewitt of Chester, Maryland, two grandchildren: Brittanyann Hewitt of Hanover PA, and Morgan Hewitt of Mt. Airy MD, and two great grandchildren: Daniel Carr & Oaklynn Price, children of Morgan Hewitt.
Along with her husband and parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her son, James (Jimmy) Mullins and sister, Muriel Sininger.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 9th, 2024, at 11am at New Prospect Cemetery in Pine Bush N.Y.
