Nancy R. Burkert

Nancy R. Burkert, 90, of Hanover, PA, formerly of Essex, MD, entered God’s eternal care Sunday, April 5, 2026, at home with her loving family by her side.

Born July 3, 1935, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Margaret R. (Edmondson) Shortz.  Nancy was the loving wife of the late Thomas A. Burkert, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage until his passing on November 7, 2004. 

Nancy was a graduate of Westminster High School, Westminster, MD.  She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, and spending time with her friends and family.

Nancy is survived by her children, Thomas A. Burkert, Jr., Loretta F. Kobylski and Denise R. Berry; three grandchildren, Bernie J. Kobylski, Jr., Michael I. Ennis, and Nicole R. Kollman, and three great grandchildren, Leila Kobylski, Mischa Kollman, and Jordyn Stockslayer; and one brother, Algert Shortz. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Edmondson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick St., Hanover, with Pastor Gary Buchman officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park, Sykesville, MD. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the funeral home.
