Norman R. “Norm” Palmer, 87, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at home with his loving family by his side.
Born March 28, 1938, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late LeRoy C. and Grace E. (Basehoar) Palmer. Norm was the loving husband of Brenda K. (Stambaugh) Palmer, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
Norm was a 1957 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA, where he thrived in sports. He was a 3-time letter winner in football, holds the school record of 2,270 career yards rushing, was among top 5 scorers in South Penn Conference 3 straight years scoring 33 touchdowns, averaged 5.18 yards on 438 carries, was a 2-time letter winner in basketball, a letter winner in track and was inducted into the Hanover Athletic Hall of Fame in the 2017-2018 class.
Norm retired from Hanover Foods, Inc., as an evening supervisor. Prior to that, he worked for Eddie’s Cleaners for 30 years, as a general manager for 15 years, and in route sales for 15 years.
Norm was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hanover, and the Republican Club.
Norm traveled to all 50 states, and drove to Alaska four times. He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, cooking dinner for his family, and loved spending time being around his kids, grandchildren, and family and friends.
In addition to his loving wife, Brenda, Norm is survived by three sons, Craig R. Palmer of Hanover, PA, Keith N. Palmer and wife Kristina L. (Hursh) Palmer of Long Neck, DE, and Chris E. Palmer of Hanover, PA; nine grandchildren, Caitlin, Brandon, Aaron, Jarrod, Nathan, Jake, Alyssa, Cameran, and Emilee; three great grandchildren, Ella, Wesley, Walter, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy G. Palmer.
Following cremation, services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
