Owen V. Walsh Obituary

Owen V. Walsh, 90, of Hanover, PA, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the SpiriTrust Lutheran Nursing Center at Utz Terrace, Hanover, PA.

Born May 21, 1935 in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Owen and Katherine (Loughnane) Walsh. Owen was the loving husband of Mary Louise (Van Meers) Walsh with whom he would have celebrated 63 years of marriage on September 28.

Owen was a 1957 graduate of Boston College with a B.S. in Finance. He worked for the Federal Government in the Immigration and Naturalization Service as an accountant for 33 years until his retirement in 1994, when he and Mary Lou moved to Shallotte, NC where he invested himself in bettering others’ lives through his involvement with his Knights of Columbus Council, The ARC of Brunswick County Special Olympics, and the local Detachment of the Marine Corps League. He served his country proudly in the Marine Corps Reserves for 8 years.

He was a staunch advocate for the unborn and never missed participating in the annual March for Life until he became unable to in recent years.

Owen has been a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA, since relocating here in 2007. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society and a fourth-degree Knight with the Hanover Knights of Columbus. As a member of the Marine Corp League Gettysburg Detachment, he managed the Hanover Toys for Tots campaign for a number of years.

Walsh (Natalie), and Carol Hobbs (Chris), 10 grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Kyle, Ashley, Julia, Michael, Madison, Mary, Reagan, Courtney, and Logan, 2 great grandchildren, Charlotte Olivia, and Sophia Grace, and one brother, David I.
