Pasquale "Pat" Bria, Jr. Obituary

Pasquale “Pat” L. Bria, Jr., 89, of Hanover, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at The Brethren Home in New Oxford, PA. Pat was born September 28, 1935, in Norwalk, CT, the son of the late Pasquale L. Bria and Mary Siciliano Bria. He was the loving husband of Margaret (Staub) Bria, having shared 27 years of marriage. His first wife of 39 years, Velma L. (Sido) Bria, died on December 20, 1995. Pat was also predeceased by his younger brother, Robert W. Bria.

Pat was devoted to his family and loved them unconditionally, especially his five children, Robert (wife Maggie), Diane (husband Craig) Bria-Wharton, Pat (wife Michelle), Amy, and Michael (wife Kristen). He also loved and is survived by seven grandchildren, Guy Wharton, Todd Wharton, Kristin Bria, Scott Bria, Elle Bria, Lianna Bria, and Nicholas Bria, great-granddaughter Josephine Wharton and an extended Connecticut family, who affectionately knew him as Skip or Ace. Also surviving are Margaret’s children, Donna, Robert, Andrew, and Rodney.

Although Pat had a lifelong passion for playing cards, his greatest love was sports, which trait he passed on to his children. He was particularly proud of being a “Six Decade” basketball official. Belying his age, Pat umpired softball into his eighties. Perhaps most significantly, Pat was an avid New York Yankees fan. His enthusiasm for the Bronx Bombers was a constant source of conversation throughout his life opining that Joe DiMaggio was the greatest baseball player ever.

After graduating from Norwalk High School in 1953, Pat worked for Sioux Tools in Norwalk and New Milford, CT. He subsequently moved to Hanover in 1974, when he began employment with CH Reed, Inc., where he remained until 2015. Additionally, Pat enjoyed quite the reputation as a “jack-of-all-trades”; whatever the job, from automotive and lawn maintenance to home renovations and wiring, Pat was your guy.

Pat’s faith was an integral aspect of his life. He was a devoted member and regular attendee of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharist Minister and member of the Parish Council. He was also a member of Amici D’Italia, The Holy Name Society, and The Knights of Columbus.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 8, 2025, 10:00 a.m. at St Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA, with a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate and remember Pat immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Livestream of the Mass will be available at www.kenworthyfh.com.
