Patricia J. Sheaffer

Patricia J. Sheaffer, 90, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover, PA.

Born August 31, 1933, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ross A. and Grace N. (Sterner) Sipe.  Patricia was the loving wife of the late Ronald E. Sheaffer, with whom she shared fifty-five years of marriage until his passing February 22, 2015.    

Mrs. Sheaffer was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA.

Patricia was a 1951 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA. 

Mrs. Sheaffer retired from the Hanover Public Library, where she served as a librarian for over fifty years.  Most of her career was as a children’s librarian and many of the children in the Hanover Area referred to her as the Library Lady.

Patricia enjoyed reading, gardening, music, and spending time with her family.

Patricia is survived by her children, Gregory Sheaffer and wife Lori of York New Salem, PA, Todd M. Sheaffer of Hanover, PA, and Karalee G. Sheaffer of Mount Pocono, PA; two grandchildren, Amanda C. Sheaffer and Andrew J. Sheaffer; and a sister, Sandra Feeser and husband Frank of Winter Garden, FL.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Ross A. Sipe.

Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate and remember Pat will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday February 29, 2024,  at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00AM on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Patricia’s name to the Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolent Fund, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331 or the Guthrie Memorial Library, 2 Library Place, Hanover, PA 17331.
