Patricia Kay Trone, formerly Williams, passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on January 18, 1948, to Frank and Gladys Williams, Pat lived a full life devoted to family, friends, and education.
A graduate of Hanover High School (Class of 1965), Pat went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Education from California University of Pennsylvania in 1969. She dedicated 35 years to shaping young minds as a teacher in the South Western School District, retiring in 2007. She was known for her sarcasm and wit, losing her reading glasses around the school, and resisting new technology.
Pat was an avid reader, a Pinterest crafter, and a fierce competitor when it came to cards. She especially enjoyed playing Crazy 8s and poker with her grandchildren, who brought her endless joy. Pat was a master at bossing around her husband Fred, whose patience most certainly wavered but whose love inexplicably did not. She was particularly fond of the Game Show Network, America's Got Talent, and playing Keno. She recently discovered the joy of Temu and their “junk drawers” have never been fuller. Pat also enjoyed sharing her political commentary—often unsolicited—on social media, where she never hesitated to speak her mind. She did not enjoy making left-hand turns, driving across the Bay Bridge, or “driving all the way across town.” She loved animals and their recently adopted dog, Freya, was her newest sidekick.
Pat was the heart of her family and the source of countless inside jokes.
In her earlier years, Pat loved traveling to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Charlestown Virginia, and the beach. She was a regular at her weekly dominoes club and Hollywood Casino. Her favorite season was summer when she could hang out at the pool, crack crabs, complain about "how stinkin' hot it is", watch her grandkids swim and laugh at herself trying to get on or off a pool float.
Pat is survived by her husband of 50 years, Fred Trone; her daughter Erin Trone Hanson and son-in-law Aaron Hanson; her son Adam Trone and daughter-in-law Erin Genest Trone; and her cherished grandchildren Avery, Nolan, Preston, and Evangeline Hanson, and Theodore and Elizabeth Trone. She is also survived by her brother Ronald Williams and his wife Carol, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply. Her legacy of laughter, love, and “just a little” spunk lives on in all who knew her. She will be terribly missed.
