Pauline R. (Ritter) Benner, 86, of Hanover, PA, entered the Good Shepherd’s eternal care Monday, August 16, 2021, at UPMC Hanover Hospital with her loving family by her side.

Born November 14, 1934, in Bethlehem, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul N., Sr., and Ruth M. (Lynn) Ritter.  Pauline was the loving, caring wife of the Rev. Richard E. Benner with whom she shared over sixty-three years of marriage.

Pauline was a 1952 graduate of Liberty High School, Bethlehem, PA, and a 1956 graduate of Moravian College.  She held many Secondary School level teaching positions in the parishes her husband served.  Her last full -time position was with the Spring Grove School District.

Pauline was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA.  She enjoyed singing in the choir and generous volunteering at the church.  At Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Center, she also volunteered extensively over the past 16 years.  So many friends, neighbors, and staff were aware of all the good tasting items that came from “Pauline’s Kitchen”.  The Benners participated in and had leadership positions in the Elderhostel Program, a national adult continuing education program.

Pauline especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, in addition to reading, baking, golf, and travel.  She enjoyed a long family history of making apple butter.

She is survived by her loving husband Richard, four sons, Allen P. Benner (Angelee) of Coatesville, PA, Dale E. Benner (Donna) of York, PA, Timothy K. Benner (Debra) of Hampstead, MD, and John D. Benner (Stacy) of Myersville, MD; eight grandchildren; two great granddaughters.  She was preceded in death by brothers Myron W. Ritter, and Paul N. Ritter, Jr.
