Pearl E. Smith, 94, of Hanover, PA, entered peacefully into God’s eternal care, Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Center.
Born July 25, 1923, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Meckley and Viola Fullerton. Pearl was the loving wife of the late Stephen I. Smith who died May 13, 1992 and with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.
Pearl retired, having worked at the former Hanover Cordage Company, St. Joseph’s School cafeteria, Hoss’s Steak House and Burger King. She and her husband were the owners and operators of Smith’s Trailer Park for many years.
Pearl enjoyed the outdoors, flowers, and especially loved spending time with her family and her cats.
Pearl is survived by her children, Stephen C. Smith and wife Joan M., George E. Smith and wife Brenda, and Mary Ann Hawk, all of Hanover, PA, and Rose Marie Hensley of Knoxville, TN; six grandchildren, Christy, Kimberlyn, Stephen, Travis, Michelle and Stacey; ten great grandchildren; and a brother, Paul Meckley of Dallas, TX. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick Meckley and Charles Meckley; and two sisters, Madaline Krumrine and Charlotte Blank.
A graveside service to celebrate and remember Pearl will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 14, 2018 at St. Joseph Church Cemetery, Hanover, PA, with Deacon Thomas Aumen officiating.
