Richard R. Runk

Richard R. Runk, 85, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at UPMC Hanover Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Born August 5, 1937, in Littlestown, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph and Esther (Eckert) Runk.  Richard was the loving husband of Karnee J. (Brown) Runk with whom he shared 59 years of marriage. 

Richard was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA.

Richard was a 1955 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA.  He was a veteran and served his country proudly as a sergeant in the United States Army. 

Richard retired from Staff, Inc., where he was an amusements route salesman for many years. 

Richard was a life member of the Hanover Elks Lodge 763 and the New Oxford Social Club. He was a member of the American Legion Post #14 of Hanover, PA.

Richard loved playing golf as well as watching TV golf tournaments, football, and NASCAR races.

In addition to his loving wife Karnee, Richard is survived by three children: Lonnie L. Runk of Spring Grove, PA, Tracy A. Perry and husband John of Taneytown, MD, and Richard A. Runk of Hanover, PA; four grandchildren Brandi Frame, Brooke Bellamy, Courtney Kidwell, and Katlynn Runk; four step-grandchildren Jennifer Miller, Elizabeth Miller, Bethany Perry, and Emily Eid; five great-grandchildren Austin Frame, Elijah Frame, Daniel Frame, Carter Kidwell, and Samuel Starzman; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by four sisters Pauline Kerlin and Betty Shelleman of Mechanicsburg, PA, Doris Horn of Springville, NY, and Nancy Meckley of Hanover, PA.  In addition, he is also survived by brother-in-law Earl Meckley and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service to celebrate and remember Richard will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Marburg Memorial Gardens, 2510 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Bonnie J. Whittier officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Grace United Church of Christ, 100 Fourth Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
