Richard Stratton Obituary

Richard L. Stratton, 68, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at home with his caring family by his side.

Born March 29, 1956, in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late Willie and Elma (Young) Stratton. Richard was the loving husband of Kathleen L. (Brush), with whom he shared forty-seven years of marriage.

Richard was a 1974 graduate of Berkley H.S., Berkley, MI, and a 1976 graduate of the Ohio Institute of Technology, Columbus, OH. He retired in February of 2024 from ManTech as a Senior Cyber-Security Engineer for the U.S. government.

Richard’s faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life. As a member of The Chapel, located in Hanover & Littlestown, PA, he served as a church elder, a youth group, and kids’ church leader. It was the joy of his life to put his arms around others and help them develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Richard also served in the community as a Boy Scout leader, was a Band Booster parent, and a soccer coach. He enjoyed debating, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his family. He loved to travel and was a certified scuba diver.

Richard loved his family and led them well. He loved spending time with them and finding ways to serve them. In addition to his faithful wife, Kathleen, Richard is survived by his four children, Jennifer & Daniel (spouse) Gross, Joshua & Amy (spouse) Stratton, Megan & Matt (spouse) Garrison, and Clayton & Ali (spouse) Stratton; eight grandchildren, Abigail Gross, Ethan Gross, Isaac Gross, Brianna Stratton, Josiana Stratton, Levi Stratton, Emily Garrison, and McKenzie Garrison; two sisters, Bernice & Keith (spouse) Young and Theresa & Percy (spouse) Pasquin; and several nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate and remember Richard will be held 11AM, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at The Chapel, 1144 Bollinger Road, Littlestown, PA, with Pastor Scott Morgan officiating.
