Robert M. Bittle

Robert Merle Bittle, 77, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at UPMC Hanover with his loving family by his side.

Born May 16, 1944, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Merle and Leona (Arentz) Bittle.  He was the companion of Vickie Smeltzer of York, PA for 40 years. 

Robert was a 1962 graduate of Littlestown High School.  He retired from Harley Davidson, where he worked as a lead man on the packing line for thirty-five years.

Robert was a veteran, serving his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Robert was a member of AMVETS Post 22, Hanover, PA, and the McSherrystown Home Association.

Robert enjoyed tinkering with tractors, working on small engines and motorcycles, and was an avid sports fan.

Robert is survived by his children, Sheri L. Williams-Waddler and husband David of Dover, DE, Tami S. Mummert of Gettysburg, PA, Justin W. Bittle and wife Tammy of Hanover, PA; nine grandchildren, Brett, Ryan, Eric, Leon, Nathaniel, Ian, Gabrielle, Alycia, and Isabella; one great-grandson, Landen; two brothers, Barry E. Bittle and companion Mary of Reed Point, MT, and Jay R. Bittle and wife Ann of Hanover, PA.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy L. Kelbaugh.

Following Cremation, a memorial service to celebrate and remember Robert will be held 11:00AM, Monday, April 18, 2022, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with his pastor, Rev. Kevin Becker officiating.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.  A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00AM, Monday, April 18, 2022, at the funeral home.  The Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail will provide Military Honors.
