Robert B. Smith, Sr.

Robert Bernard Smith, Sr., 81, of Hanover, PA, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, entered God's eternal care, Friday, October 15, 2021, at home with his loving family by his side.

Born August 24, 1940, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Bernard E. and Mary R. (Neiderer) Smith. Robert was the loving husband of the late Rose Ann (Felix) Smith who died April 15, 2018, and with whom he shared fifty-five years of marriage.

Robert was a veteran and served his country proudly as a marksman in the United States Air Force.

Robert was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hanover, PA. He was a member of the Hanover Amvets, the McSherrystown Knights of Columbus, the McSherrystown Moose, and a member of the NFC Cruisers.

Robert was a 1958 graduate of Delone Catholic High School. He retired from P.H. Glatfelter in 2003, with over thirty-nine years of service, and served as president of the UPIU/PACE Local 1303, Spring Grove, PA from 1987 to 2003.

Robert was an avid Notre Dame football fan, enjoyed spending time at the ocean, traveling, going on cruises, traveling with his car club and showing his 1954 Chevy, and spending time with his family.

Robert is survived by his children, Robin E. Molison of Hanover, PA, Kimberly L. Wolf and husband Douglas L. of East Berlin, PA, and Robert B. Smith, Jr. and wife Cindy A. of Glenville, PA; nine grandchildren, Colton M. Molison, Tyler S. Molison and wife Anna, Jacob C. Molison, Emily M. Woznica and husband Dan, Hannah R. Molison, Shaun M. Wolf and wife Jessica, Steven C. Loucks, Cody A. Smith and wife Brittany, and Ashton R. Smith; and eight great-grandchildren, Keanu, Jase, Ke’ala, Maura, Alexandra, Oliver, Gavin, and Norah.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM, Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover, PA, with Father Samuel Miller as celebrant. Burial will be in Annunciation B.V.M. Cemetery, McSherrystown, PA with the Hanover Allied Veteran’s Honor Guard Burial Detail providing Military Honors. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be from 6:00-8:00PM, Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, and from 10:00-11:00AM, Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at the church.
