Robert L. Bossom

Robert L. Bossom, 83, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at home with his loving family by his side.    

Born October 13, 1941, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Ruth E. (Flickinger) Bossom.  Robert was the loving husband of Ruth A. (Bachman) Bossom with whom he shared fifty-eight years of marriage.

Robert was a custom cabinet maker for Ivan C. Dutterer, Inc. for 38 years until his retirement in 2006.  Upon retirement, he worked part time for the South Western School District Maintenance Department for 5 years.

Robert was a member of St. David’s UCC, Hanover, PA.  He was a member of the Firefighters Association of York County, and a life member of the Eagle Fire Company, Hanover, PA, the Lineboro Fire Company, Lineboro, MD, and the Pleasant Hill Fire Company, Hanover, PA.

Robert enjoyed working in his woodshop, making things for family and friends.  He enjoyed deer hunting, going to the cabin, farming, and butchering with family and friends.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his special little buddy, Lucky.

In addition to his loving wife, Ruth, Robert is survived by his three children, Michael E. Bossom and wife Cathy of Abbottstown, PA, Wanda K. Bankert and husband Todd of Hanover, PA, and David L. Bossom and wife Lynn of Hanover, PA; four grandchildren, Kayla Hicks and husband Shane, Nicholas Bankert and fiancée Kendall, Corey Bossom and Jeremy Bossom; two great grandchildren, Kane Hicks and Bristol Bankert; one brother, Walter Bossom; and one sister, Sylvia Sneed.  He was preceded in death by four siblings, Larry Bossom, Mary Laughman, Barbara Bachman, and Steve Bossom.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Robert will be held 11:00AM, Monday, November 18, 2024, at St. David’s UCC, 142 Hobart Road, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating.  Burial will be in St. David’s Church Cemetery. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 9:00-11:00AM, Monday, November 18, 2024, at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to St. David’s UCC, 142 Hobart Road, Hanover, PA 17331, or to the Pleasant Hill Volunteer Fire Company, 3003 Baltimore Pike, Hanover, PA 17331.
