Robert L. Colehouse, Sr., 99 of Hanover, PA died Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the UPMC Hanover Hospital.
Born April 28, 1926, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Lloyd E. and Anna M. (Cole) Colehouse. He was the husband of the late Geraldine R. (Wentz) Colehouse who died February 22, 1996.
Robert was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA, a life member and past president of the Hanover Republican Club, a member of the American Legion Post 14, and the Penn Township Fire Company.
Robert was employed by the Winebrenner-Musselman Division of Pet Milk Co. as a supervisor, and retired as manager of the American Legion Post 14, Hanover, PA.
A U.S. Navy veteran, having served on the U.S.S. Mayo DD 422 in the Asiatic Pacific, European/African, Middle Eastern, American Campaigns, and Asia Occupation Service. He was present in Tokyo Bay September 2, 1945, for the signing of the Surrender by The Japanese and received the surrender of the arms.
Robert is survived by his son, Robert L. Colehouse, Jr. and wife Barbara, two daughters, Barbara A. Grim and husband W. Steve, and Brenda Moxley and husband Stephen, five grandchildren, Sean Grim, Michele Sherman, Melissa Leathery, Ben Colehouse, and Caroline Gray, twelve great grandchildren, Tianna Gray, Kade Gibbs, Aubriana Gibbs, Brielle Gibbs, Cecilia Colehouse, McKenzie Hughston, Payton Sherman, Shae Leathery, Austyn Grim, Jordan Grim, Levi Grim, and Nate Sealover, and one great great grandchild, Hayes Hughston. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Theda E. Snyder, and Imogene Aument; and a brother, Gilbert E. Colehouse, Sr.
Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA, with Military Honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
