Romaine E. Spangler, 97, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at the Martin’s Care Home, Littlestown, PA, with her loving family by her side.
Born October 6, 1922, in East Berlin, PA, she was the daughter of the late Burtis J. and Annie V. (Staub) Sterner. Romaine was the loving wife of the late Harold R. “Hack” Spangler with whom she shared sixty-seven years of marriage until his passing on September 28, 2006.
Romaine was a life member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Broadway, Hanover, PA, life member of USBC Bowling Association, member of the Mothers of Twins and Multiples and a former Member of the Hanover Elks.
Romaine was a Dutchmaid Stylist for over 25 years until her retirement in 1986.
Romaine was an avid bowler and bowled until she was 90 ½. She was a member of the York County Bowling 600 club.
Romaine was a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.
Romaine is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Bollinger and husband Ron of Spring Grove, Joyce Wentz and husband Larry of Hanover, Julie Spangler and her friend Nance Darr of Lancaster, and Jill Fissel of Hanover; six grandchildren, Rodney Bollinger and wife Linda of Florida, Andy Bollinger and wife Terry of Texas, Brian Wentz and wife Teresa of Shrewsbury, Troy Wentz and wife Allison of Hanover, Robin Powers and husband Mike of Virginia Beach, VA, and Katie Koontz and husband Thomas “AJ” of Orrtanna; ten great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Sterner and wife Betty of Chambersburg, PA, and a brother-in-law, Richard Schuman of Hanover. She was preceded in death by nine siblings.
The family would like to thank Martin’s Care Home for their loving and compassionate care for mother during the last five years. They are particularly thankful to Sandy and Mandi for their care to mother through her final journey.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA with Vicar Ginger Bennett officiating.
