Ronald Roman Obituary

Ronald J. Roman, 83, of Hanover, PA and formerly of York, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Friday, January 1, 2021 at the Hanover Hall Nursing Center.

Born March 23, 1937 in Shenandoah, PA he was the son of the late Anthony Roman and Pauline Roman (Malnick). Ronald was the loving husband of Barbara A. Roman (Resh), with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

Ronald graduated from Delone Catholic High School in 1955. As many did back then, he joined the Air Force after high school, and served in Korea from 1955-1957. He always remarked how brutally cold it was there. While serving his country, Ron earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Following his service, he received a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Education from King’s college. He had a passion for poetry and teaching, and he used his degree to teach English in the Harford County, Maryland, school system for nearly 30 years.

Moving to the countryside in MD in the 70's, Ron built his home by hand. He was never afraid to try a project he'd never done before or learn something new. He loved New England, poetry, baseball, an occasional game of nine-ball, and he enjoyed cooking for his family. He was an avid softball player, and played well into his late 70’s. His sister Maryann took up the sport upon his encouragement, and all three sons played youth baseball and in men’s leagues for years.

In addition to his wife Barbara, Ronald is survived by his sons, Matthew Roman of Aurora, CO, David Roman of Street, MD, and Michael Roman of Vestavia, AL, sister Maryann Hoffman-Krammes (Roman) of Pine Grove, PA, grandchildren Victoria, Kristina, Mark, John, Ms. Kelly Roman, Jake and Mia, and great grandchildren Reese, Alice, Evelyn and Athena.
