Ronald Lee Myers, 77, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 3, 2026, at Harrisburg Hospital following complications from open-heart surgery.
Born on July 29, 1948, at Gettysburg Hospital, Ron was the son of the late Lester and Leah (Anderson) Myers. He attended Spring Grove Area School District, where he developed a love for wrestling. After completing his education, he began working alongside his parents at the family's service station in Thomasville, Pennsylvania, where he spent his youth and early adult years.
On March 25, 1972, Ron married Yvonne Louise Unger. Together they shared 54 years of marriage and raised two daughters, Laurie Marie (Myers) Arentz and Veronica Lee (Myers) Rodgers.
Ron had a lifelong passion for automobiles. He especially cherished his 1967 Corvette Stingray, which he purchased in 1970. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed drag racing during the 1960s at York US30 Dragway. Throughout his life, he owned and appreciated many classic and performance vehicles.
Dedicated to serving his community, Ron volunteered with the Thomasville Volunteer Fire Department in his younger years, often responding to fire calls and assisting his father on ambulance runs. After moving to Hanover once he got married, he joined Friendship Fire Company No. 1 of Pennville, where he faithfully volunteered for many years. Recently honored as a Life Member, Ron generously gave his time as a firefighter, helped operate the Saturday night bingo, and prepared and served countless banquets.
Over the course of his career, Ron held several positions. In addition to working at the family service station, he was employed by Flinchbaugh Products, Green's Dairy driving one of his father's trucks, and BorgWarner in York. After marrying, he joined the family business, Myers Truck Leasing and Inspection Station, full time. Later, he became a Mac Tools distributor and proudly owned and operated Ron's Quality Tools for 15 years. Before retiring, he worked at BAE Systems for two years.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Yvonne; his daughters, Laurie Arentz and her husband, Josh, of Dover, and Veronica Rodgers and her husband, Jason, of East Berlin; several cherished grandchildren, his sisters, Phyllis Neale of Dover and Linda Baublitz and her husband, Fred, of York; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends who became family throughout the years.
In addition to his parents Lester and Leah, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Myers.
