Russell L. Louey, 71, of Haymarket, VA, entered God’s eternal care Thursday, August 14, 2025, at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center, Manassas, VA, with his loving family by his side.
Born October 6, 1953, in Hanover, PA, he was the son of the late Harry N., Jr. and Marian J. (Swartz) Louey. Russell was the loving husband of Cynthia L. (Messinger) Louey, with whom he shared 51½ years of marriage.
Russell was a member of Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manassas, VA.
Russell had a degree in electronics and worked as a program manager at IBM, and then at Lockheed Martin for forty years until his retirement.
Russell was a huge sports fan, and loved the Baltimore Orioles. He coached youth leagues for many years and loved cheering on his sons and then grandsons at their sporting events. Russell enjoyed traveling and family vacations, gardens and nature, and was quite a handyman, building garages and sunrooms. He was a true family man and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his loving wife, Cynthia, Russell is survived by his sons, Kevin M. Louey and wife Nora of Gainesville, VA, and Russell A. Louey of Aldie, VA; two grandsons, Dylan and Colin; and a brother, Eugene N. Louey and wife Anne of Hanover, PA.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Russell will be held 10:00AM, Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 9:00-10:00AM, Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the funeral home.
