Shirley Marguerite Bair, 89, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care, Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover, PA, with her loving family by her side.
Born April 22, 1933, in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles H., Sr. and Marguerite L. (Sterner) Halter. Shirley was the loving wife of Harold J. Bair with whom she shared 68 years of marriage.
Shirley was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover, PA. She enjoyed volunteering at the PSU Center for Health Care as a research volunteer and was a member of the Homewood Auxiliary.
Shirley was a 1951 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA, and graduated from Thompson Business College. Shirley was a secretary at various businesses for many years before being a secretary at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hanover, PA, where she retired from in the 1980’s.
Shirley enjoyed visiting state and national parks and travel to many other sites around the country, watching Penn State University sports with her husband Harold, and spending time with her family.
In addition to her loving husband, Harold, Shirley is survived by her children, Steven H. Bair, Jeffrey A. Bair and wife Mary, Michael S. Bair and wife Candy, and Kelly A. Bair and husband Peter; five grandchildren, Josiah Bair, Scott Bair, Brandy Bair, Samantha Engler, and Sean Engler; four great-grandchildren, Bryce, Madelynne, Grayson, and Gage; and a brother, John H. Halter. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Henry Halter, Jr.
A funeral service to celebrate and remember Shirley will be held 11:00AM, Monday, May 16, 2022, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Kim Blocher officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:00-11:00AM, Monday, May 16, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
